Jamaica has three different main areas that offer all inclusive resorts.  We have resorts in Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios.  When traveling to Jamaica it’s important to know the difference in these three areas to help decide where might be best for your family to stay.

Negril Wedding CoupleNegril:  Negril has the best beaches in all of Jamaica, the “Bloody Bay” and “7 mile beach.”  In Negril you will find hotels such as the Couples Negril or Couples Swept Away as well as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay and the Riu Negril.  For sunset weddings, this is where you would want to be, many resorts here will offer multiple weddings per day.  Also for the adventure seeker, there’s a place called “Ricks Cafe” which is a bar/restaurant that is built on a cliff side that locals will dive from!  These guys dive from as high as 150 feet in some cases.  The trick is, you gotta tip them and the more you tip, the higher they go!  I myself decided to take the plunge into the ocean from Ricks Cafe but I only jumped from about 15 feet, high enough for me because nobody was giving me a tip to go higher!  Negril is a little over an hour from the airport.

Located close to Cancun. Isla Mujeres is an easy destination to reach but will quickly make you feel like you’re worlds away. Without all the hustle and bustle of Cancun, what once was a small fishing village, Isla Mujeres still hold its Mexican charm and warmth with an inviting atmosphere. Isls Mujeres (Island of Women) is located close to one of the many coral reefs. The area is popular for its snorkeling and scuba diving. The small town has excellent shopping, great restaurants and fantastic beaches. I was able to visit Isla Mujeres while staying in Playa.

Our group booked an excursion (Royal Garrafon) which included swimming with dolphins, snorkeling above the great mayan reef, zip lining over the Caribbean, shopping in town and most important all meals and drinks. The majority of the transportation consist of golf-carts, scooters/mopeds, small motorcycles and a few cars and trucks. Isla Mujeres is a lot more laid back than Cancun, but there are still a lot of options. Our most popular resort there is the Excellence Playa Mujeres which is a luxury 5 Star Adult Only all inclusive resort. From small, laid back bars to clubs that go late into the night you can find what you want.

One of the most frequently asked questions when traveling to an all inclusive resort is “Do I have to tip the resort employees?”  The simple answer is this, you can if you’d like to but it isn’t a requirement.  Generally tipping your maids and servers will not change the level of service you receive from the resort.  As when traveling in the U.S. when you receive excellent service we like to thank our providers with a token of our appreciation.  This can be the same in an all inclusive resort.  Sometimes you will have the same waiter for breakfast, lunch and dinner and then see them back bright and early the next day with a smile on their face.  Sometimes just $1-$2 can make a difference in this persons day.  While tipping is not a requirement when traveling all inclusive it’s always nice to show your bartender, waiter or waitress, or maid how much you appreciate the small things they do, towel animals in the room, the bartender remembering your preferred drink, your waitress bringing the kids something special just to see the smile on their face. Tipping is always at your discretion and doesn’t have to break the bank if you chose to tip.  Just a couple dollars here and there can really help out these hard working resort employees.

One of my favorite things about Negril, Jamaica is the sunset you can count on each evening – truly spectacular!  We offer many all inclusive resorts within Negril Jamaica such as the Riu Palace Tropical Bay, Beachs NegrilCouples Swept Away as well as Couples Negril. All of which are fully all inclusive with meals, drinks, taxes, tips and transfers included.

Here is a picture I took from the world famous seven mile beach that sits in front of Negril. You know what they say about pictures, so without further ado…

Personally, when I travel I like to stay in the nicest accommodations with one of the hotel’s best rooms.  Unfortunately, you may feel that the budget will not allow an upgraded room category.

Well I am here to show you that this misconception can prevent you from having one of the most memorable vacations of your life!

Lets start with the most common room categories.  Most hotels offer standard rooms, junior suites, suites, and even larger rooms.  Along with these rooms come with different views such as garden view, partial ocean view, ocean view, and ocean front.

One of my favorite hotel’s is the Dreams Cancun!  You really need to check this place out!  They are within walking distance to shopping and the bars downtown and they also have their own dolphinarium!  They offer so many room categories it is unbelievable!  Here are some examples:  1BR Master Suite, 1BR Honeymoon Suite, Club Level Junior Suite w/ Jacuzzi, Deluxe Club Ocean Front, Deluxe Dolphin Front Ocean View, Deluxe Dolphin Front, and Pyramid Presidential Suite!  What options!

If you book well in advance you can get some pretty awesome rates!  Upgrades at this resort begin around $50 per person.  What would make your children happier than to wake up every morning to dolphins swimming outside of your room?  Or even relaxing every evening on your balcony watching the waves splash into the sand?

Sometime spending a few extra hundred dollars can make all the difference in the world.  So trust me on this one.  Call Dream Vacations today and check into an upgraded room category.  I promise you won’t be disappointed!
