But if you plan to go off resort to check out the bars and restaurants, or shopping for those trinkets and souvenirs, it is a good idea to have some knowledge of the exchange rates as well as other regulations a country may have concerning foreign money. For example, in Mexico you can only spend up to $100 American per purchase. Any transaction exceeding that amount you will need to pay in Pesos or use a credit card. I have included the exchange rate for 5 of our more popular destinations. One dollar in American is equal to .99 of a Bahamian dollar.  If traveling to Aruba your American dollar is worth 1.78 Aruban florin. In Jamaica your dollar bill is worth 85.75 Jamaican dollars. In Mexico the exchange rate is 13.55 Mexican peso to 1 American dollar.  In the Dominican Republic 1 dollar is worth 38.30 Dominican peso.
