I have been to many adult only all inclusive hotels in Mexico and the Caribbean.  I think the food is very good at all of them so I thought I would highlight a few of my favorite ala carte restaurants at some of the finest adult only hotels in the world.

First on my list is, Mia Casa located at the El Dorado Seaside Suites in the Riviera Maya of Mexico. The El Dorado Seaside was voted by Forbes as one of the most romantic hotels in the world and this is their most romantic restaurant. Mia Casa offers traditional Italian cuisine and has a huge wine list.  The ambiance and the service level puts Mia Casa at the very top of my list.

A strong second on my list is Asiana located at the Royal in Playa Del Carmen.  Asiana offers contemporary gourmet Asian fusion cuisine. The decor is very stylish and it is very romantic. The food is wonderful and the service is even better. The Chef’s Plate comes in a close second at this same hotel.  Nothing better then a good dinner at the hotel and drinks on 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen.

In a real strong third is the Lobster House at the Excellence Playa Mujeres in Playa Mujeres/Cancun,   Mexico. It is an open-air thatch-roof palapa restaurant that bridges the main pool. It is open for breakfast and lunch but for dinner it is a whole new experience. The glow of soft lanterns and the reflection of the pool turn the restaurant into a wonderful atmosphere for all things lobster.

Last on my list is the lunch buffet at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in the Riviera Maya of Mexico. I had to put it last since it is a buffet, but I have my reasons for putting it on my list. They have a grill specialty every day. It might be lobster, steaks or chicken but it is served hot off the grill ! You can order ala carte and be served or make your way through the buffet line. If you do not see what you need simply ask the waiter and it can be prepared for you. The waiters in the buffet are so attentive to your every need. It is located right next to the pool and also offers outside seating. The Iberostar Grand is #1 in the world do their ala carte restaurants are just superb. The Surf and Turk at the Grand is legendary but you will eat more meals at the buffet and you will not be disappointed.

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is known for it’s world class golf.  It boasts 28 golf courses designed by all the top course designers. This destination has options for every level and every budget.  Many of the hotels will offer golf deals and at certain times of the year you can get free green fees.  Many hotels offer golf courses but Punta Cana only has 3 oceanfront golf courses.

Punta Espada golf course is a jack Nicklaus designed course in Cap Cana and is the only course in Punta Cana with a PGA senior tour stop. The Corales course is also ocean front and is designed by Tom Fazzio.  This course is famous for it’s last 3 holes “Devils Elbow” and is located at the Punta Cana resort.  La Cana golf club is in Tortuga and is a PB Dye course with 27 challenging holes.  These are the three top courses in the area that are open to the public and not directly affiliated with a hotel.  This location has many more golf courses on or adjacent to the hotels.

Adjacent to the Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro, the newly opened Iberostar Bavaro Golf Club course was also designed by P.B. Dye and presents a different type of inland challenge including its’ 105 sand traps to tempt you at every hole. Other courses to check out in the area is the the Faldo Legacy Course, which was rated the best new course of 2008 by Travel + Leisure magazine; the Cocotal Golf & Country club’s 27 hole course with reasonable rates on 9, 18, or 27 holes of championship caliber golf adjacent to the Paradisus Palma Real.  Whatever your skill level Punta Cana is sure to have a golf course that will meet and exceed your expectations!

Waterparks have become a very popular request for family vacations and even adults. Finding a quality waterpark at a hotel is pretty tough. The Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas has the most impressive waterpark I have ever seen but if you’re looking to save a lot of money and still have a great waterpark then come and stay at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa located on Rose Hall beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The Majestic Colonial located in Punta Cana is a wonderful resort. Majestic hotels does not have as many properties as many of the larger hotel chains.   The Majestic has spent it’s entire existence at the top of the review boards and at many times was listed as the best. You will not see their brand in Mexico or Jamaica.  They have few hotels but they sure do a wonderful all inclusive.

The hotel has 658 rooms and has been open since December of 2005.  The hotel has a huge pool, 5 tennis courts, disco, swim up bar and a wonderful Spa.  The Majestic is known for their wonderful food and you can pick from one of the 7 restaurants for dinner. Each room has a jacuzzi and many of the suites have an outdoor Jacuzzi.  All rooms have fully stocked mini bar, coffee maker and a room safe.  These rooms are some of the best entry level rooms in the industry.

After dinner the hotel will offer evening entertainment with a live show, music in the Piano bar and of course you can try your luck at the Casino.  The hotel has a wonderful kids program for ages 3 –14 called the Pioneer kids club and this is included with your stay.

Majestic also opened up the Majestic Elegance right next door to this hotel  in 2008 and this hotel features an adult only room category with the same wonderful service and facilities as the Majestic Colonial.

The Majestic Colonial has great rooms, a wonderful beach and great food and drinks.  This hotel will also have a better rate then many of the “Big Brands.”  If your looking for an all inclusive in Punta Cana take a hard look at the Majestic Colonial!
